Meet the

Managing Partner

Tamara Brenes

CO-FOUNDER

Prior to founding THRV Capital, Tamara Brenes’ experience spanned the C-suite in different capacities, and for different industries and growth stage companies. Her unique experience as Chief Financial Officer for a bank in Miami, a private equity-backed manufacturing company in Philadelphia, and a medium-sized services firm in Chicago gives Tamara a holistic understanding of the financial workings of any company and any industry. Tamara understands that at minimum CFO’s must be able to save you money, cut costs and liberate cash, but it’s only the best CFO’s that will make a broader operational impact and create lasting value. The best CFO’s are aligned with the entire business and cut from the same cloth as the CEO, and will:

– see the big picture and become a strategic partner to the CEO and COO
– have deep commercial roots to understand operations and drive financial performance
– be able to right-size the balance sheet to liberate fixed capital and cash flow and actively manage working capital
– focus on building value as well as managing costs
– manage and develop talent
– communicate effectively with multiple audiences
– create a culture of analytics based on KPI’s and drivers
– leverage technology and systems to be more agile and scalable and empower senior management across the business with real-time data they can react to quickly

As an entrepreneur Tamara previously launched a boutique brokerage and lending firm, an insurance brokerage firm – currently the largest in South Florida, a tech startup, and an e-commerce for cause-corporation.

Tamara holds an MBA from University of Florida, a Master’s in Accounting (completed CPA required coursework) from Florida International University and a BS in Finance from University of Mobile. She also completed advanced studies in Chemistry at the University of Miami.
